"High Plains Drifter"

Today I set out from my overnight stay in Lee Vining, CA, which is located just east of Yosemite National Park. I headed up rte 395 into Nevada, and joined rte 80 east which was already in progress. Rte 395 joined rte 80 in Reno, and it took a little while to get there as rte 395 isn't an interstate, and it was stop and go traffic through several towns in central California and Nevada. I left Lee Vining at 8:07am sharp after loading up my equipment, and headed due north with the morning clouds beckoning me to the east.

The road winded through the high plains of the Sierra mountain range.

It was a pretty uneventful drive really. I rode quietly
along while listening to my tunes, enjoying the scenery.

Before long I came to a very scenic area of rte. 395. The sign told me so.

See. The sign was right.

(I told you it was uneventful)
...and therefore I don't have much to say.
Let's see some more pics

After awhile I made it into Nevada

Some people in Nevada really need to get a life

Just then I came to another tunnel...

This is the outside of the tunnel

and this is the inside

Are you getting tired of that yet? I'll never tire of tunnels, and tormenting you with them

Supertramp - Take the Long way home

So you think you're a Romeo
playing a part in a picture-show
Take the long way home
Take the long way home

Cos you're the joke of the neighborhood
Why should you care if you're feeling good
Take the long way home
Take the long way home

But there are times that you feel you're part of the scenery
all the greenery is comin' down, boy
And then your wife seems to think you're part of the
furniture oh, it's peculiar, she used to be so nice.

When lonely days turn to lonely nights
you take a trip to the city lights
And take the long way home
Take the long way home

You never see what you want to see
Forever playing to the gallery
You take the long way home
Take the long way home

And when you're up on the stage, it's so unbelievable,
unforgettable, how they adore you,
But then your wife seems to think you're losing your sanity,
oh, calamity, is there no way out?

Does it feel that you life's become a catastrophe?
Oh, it has to be for you to grow, boy.
When you look through the years and see what you could
have been oh, what might have been,
if you'd had more time.

So, when the day comes to settle down,
Who's to blame if you're not around?
You took the long way home
You took the long way home...........

I chose this song of the day because I am indeed taking the long way home to see some sights. Not only that but my ex-roommate Steve Reid was a member of Supertramp during a portion of the 1980's. The lyrics also hit home for me personally.
